There are three essential characteristics of nonlocality, or nonlocal events, as described by quantum physicist, Nick Herbert. First, they are unmediated, which means they are not caused by any type of force, energy, or signal. Second, they are unmitigated, which means that the strength of the changes of events does not weaken with increasing distance. And thirdly, they are immediate, which means they occur right away. The main thing that can influence a nonlocal event is one’s intention, or desire to make it happen. Similarly, in other parts of science there have been numerous studies investigating the power of prayer in influencing healing where patients were prayed for by strangers at far away distances. Although many of the studies had mixed results, being positive or negative, there were many variables that affected the outcomes. Regardless of outcome there are still aspects of prayer and distance healing that modern science is not yet capable of measuring. This may be because of the complexity of humans. Yet in other studies involving plants or water molecules, distant healing through prayer has demonstrated significant positive results.
The bottom line is that science is starting to realize that there are some things that we just can’t measure or understand at this moment. In the history of medicine, we have often known that something works before actually knowing how. In fact, there’s a billion dollar industry run by the pharmaceutical industry where they crank out drugs and get approval to have them available to the public without ever knowing why or how they work. The drug Dilantin that’s used for patients with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) appears to help some patients but scientists still have no idea why or how. With nonlocal healing, whether it is performed over the phone or while the client is physically elsewhere, subtle energies are being utilized. Subtle energies may not be able to be measured at this time but they do exist. During a healing session, a higher resonance of vibration that’s above the physical, emotional, and mental bodies are being manipulated by a skillful, ethical, and sensitively trained practitioner with the pure intention of assisting the healing process of the client.
In my shamanic training under the influence of the Inca Shamanic tradition I was taught about nonlocality and stepping outside of ordinary time and space and to practice a higher level of perception to see what a client can not see and to help them heal so that they can continue on their individual journey.
